{No Churn} Caramel Apple Ice Cream: This thick, creamy ice cream is filled with caramel, apples, and plenty of cinnamon! Plus, you don’t need an ice cream maker for it! You’re welcome.
This No Churn Caramel Apple Ice Cream recipe is easy as pie (apple pie, that is!). The best no churn ice cream recipe begins with sweetened condensed milk and heavy whipping cream.
To jazz up this easy no churn ice cream recipe, I opted to add in some caramel apple filling. It’s simple, easy, and one of the best summer ice cream recipes!
I’m apparently going through an ice cream phase.
I’ve always been that type of person who gets stuck on something, wanting it over and over and over again until I’m so sick of it I never want to see it again. Or at least not until the next week, you know, whichever comes first.
That’s how I was with Robin Hood, Cinderella, and Fox and the Hound when I was younger. I wanted to (and sometimes did, much to the chagrin of my brother and sister) watch them over and over again. In 6th grade, when I discovered the Clearwater Crossing series, I read them cover to cover again and again. And I don’t even know how many times I listened to Jewel’s “Standing Still” (that I had recorded on a cassette from the radio) and 3 Doors Down’s album The Better Life.
Aaaand those are just a few examples.
With the whole ice cream thing, at least it’s about a million degrees here so I have an excuse to be pounding down the cream and churning out the ice on a regular basis. Summer really came in over here with a blazing force. Literally.
Copious amounts of ice cream have really been helping this whole it’s-hotter-than-the-actual-sun thing, hence the phase.
It’s a vicious cycle.
One of the best things about this ice cream, apart from it’s apple pie like flavor, is how ridiculously simple it is to put together.
There’s no custard base, no ice cream maker, and honestly, really no effort involved in this process. It’s great, because then you can get stuck on the same ice cream phase as me!
Plus, this ice cream is ultra creamy. It really doesn’t get any better than that.
- 2 medium apples chopped
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp white sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
- Over medium-low heat, cook chopped apples, butter, brown sugar, white sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until the apples have softened, about 6-7 minutes (as the apples cook down, the brown sugar and butter will turn into a caramel sauce). Remove from heat, and allow the mixture to cool.
- With a mixer, whip the heavy cream until it forms peaks (depending upon the speed of your mixture, this could take anywhere from 4-7 minutes or so).
- In a separate bowl, mix together sweetened condensed milk and the apples (including all of the liquid, as that's the tasty caramel!).
- Pour the apple mixture into the whipped cream, and gently fold the mixture together. Once it seems combined, transfer the mixture into a freezer safe container, and allow to chill in the freezer, for at least 5-6 hours, or overnight.
- Enjoy!
